Very Nice Bath Bench

My shower stall is bathtub-shaped, 5 feet long and 2-1/2 feet wide with a 6 x 6 inch curb at the front. This bench fits very well and extends only a few inches beyond the curb onto the floor.
The shower floor is about two inches higher than the bathroom floor. The bath bench legs are adjustable in 1 inch increments so you can make the bench rails pretty close to horizontal. Because the bench extends outside the stall the shower curtail can’t close off the stall as usual, so I just drape the curtain across the bench rails as best I can and not much water gets on the floor. The swivel bench seat has a little play in it because of all the moving parts. The seat itself is very slippery when it’s soapy, so I added some anti-slip adhesive stickers like you put on a shower floor. I also have learned to sit sideways on the seat with the back rest beside me toward the open side of the stall. This gives me something to lean against while washing without feeling like I might fall over.
The latches to release the slide and swivel are pretty easy to operate even if you can’t always see them easily. You can feel and hear them click into place. There is some resistance in the sliding motion, so it won’t slide unless you really want it to. I like the molded plastic parts of the frame. They are very sturdy and are better looking than aluminum tubes would be.

Wonderful Design!

I purchased this for transferring my husband who can stand but not walk. I use it for getting him in and out of our shower which has a 46" wide opening. With my help, he can now stand up from his wheelchair, hold on to a grab bar on the wall on the outside of the shower, pivot his feet and sit down on the bench seat. I then swivel the seat and slide the seat into the shower area for him. It has revolutionized shower time! I had to remove the old shower doors and framework and I added a cheap, thin shower curtain, which stays pushed to one side. It makes the shower look very nice but wasn't necessary since I bathe him with a hand held shower device. The bench does not extend very far into the bathroom but there is also room in the shower for me to pick it up, turn it horizontally and set it inside the shower when not in use. Thank you Eagle for such a wonderful design! We both feel SO much safer!
